"If you add a little to a little, and then do it again, soon that little shall be much." - Hesiod, a Greek poet from the 8th century B.C.
SingBabySing started like a slow-cooking pot of soup sitting on the far corner of an old wood stove
In my log cabin in Alaska, where I lived for many years (and cooked on a wood stove), I realized that the internet might someday give me a way to give quality voice lessons to people who lived in places where there were no voice teachers. I wanted to help those who otherwise might never have the opportunity to experience the joy of discovering that they could learn to sing...even if they thought they were tone deaf. I had worked with many young children in Alaska and discovered that it was pretty easy to train them to sing on pitch and have fun doing it.
Stirring it up in Los Angeles
After I moved back to Los Angeles, where I had grown up, I read as much neuroscience research as I could find that related to how musical ear training in early childhood impacted the ability of babies and toddlers to sing on pitch later in life, and how that same training impacted their overall language development. It turned out that they could match musical pitches as early as 3-4 months old and that their language skills could be enhanced in a significant way.
I brought the soup pot to the front of the stove
There were other products on the market for parents that were wonderful, but none of them specifically targeted early ear training for singing on pitch. So I did something about that. I developed my first SingBabySing CD in collaboration with Michael Silversher, an amazing Grammy-Award winning composer known for his children's music. Designed specifically to give young parents a cutting-edge tool for training their children's musical ears, it is now being successfully used in homes, childcare facilities, preschools.
I like to keep things simple, and that's why I continue to create unique interactive products with one goal in mind, to help calm mommy, teacher and child so that optimum brain development can take place. I believe that excellence in music and in the use of the human voice provide the best means for doing these two things, so I'm committed to focusing my energy and efforts to bring you the best possible ways to enjoy a calm baby...calm mommy...a better world. What ingredients to add now?
The soup's cooked and ready to serve!
So I keep adding ingredients, stirring the pot and dishing out as many bowls of soup as I can. Maybe you'll be the next one to grab a spoon and dig in!
Come back for dessert soon!
